I hadn’t bought a ticket… so how could I win a lottery?

Fake lotteries, too-good-to-be-true offers, a lad on your doorstep who just happened to notice a problem with your roof…

These are all examples of SCAMS aimed at people like us. Recently the government has released figures which show that, because banks and other nancial institutions have strengthened their defences against scams and fraud, the criminals are turning to “soft targets”. These targets are like many of us: people who are retired, have a pension or reasonable savings, are not particularly knowledgeable about the inner workings of the internet, and because of our Christian beliefs might be more willing to take someone at face value.

The Kirk Session, together with Trading Standards Scotland are presenting a short course on SCAMS and HOW TO AVOID THEM. Join us in the lower hall of St. Mungo’s Museum on Wednesday, 15th February at 2:00 pm

It’s absolutely free, and could save you a fortune.
